How to turn calculated race results and season competitions, including the official competitions of the federation, into a plain text with lined-up columns, or download them straight as a Word file with new pages, two columns and page numbers, ready to print as a yearbook.
Good to know before you start
- The tool is available to every signed-in user, not only to administrators. Visitors who are not signed in are asked to log in first. Access levels and permissions
- The text is created fresh every time you change something, so it always shows the latest calculated results. Nothing is stored and you can create the same text as many times as you need.
- Two outputs are ready: a plain text with the columns lined up with spaces, easy to paste into a club bulletin, a newspaper or an e-mail, and a Word file you download directly, already laid out on A4 pages with bold headings and the fanciers in two columns, so nothing has to be copied or formatted by hand.
- Your settings are remembered in your browser for every organisation, so the next time you open the tool it is set up the way you left it.
Opening the tool
The tool works with one organisation and one season at a time. The club menu at the top of the tool takes you back to the dashboard, races or competitions of the organisation (administrators also see its settings), and the season button on its right switches the tool to another season. The path above the menu leads back to the organisation dashboard.
Open the Smart Club dashboard
Go to the dashboard of the organisation and choose the season you want to print. You can open the dashboard of any organisation, not only your own.
Click Printable results
The tile is in the tools of the dashboard and is shown once you are signed in. It opens the tool for the organisation and season of the dashboard. Administrators can also open it from the Generate text files tile in the race plan of the organisation.
Race results, season competitions or club success rate
At the top of the page three buttons switch between the kinds of text the tool prepares:
- Race results - pick a type of results and then the races and the competitions of that type.
- Season competitions - pick from every competition of the season, including the official competitions of the federation.
- Club success rate - a season overview of the clubs: how many pigeons and fanciers took part and how many were successful. Club success rate
Each view keeps its own selection and the text always shows only the view that is open. When you switch to the other view and back, your ticks are still there.
Printing race results
Choose a type of results
The left column lists the types of results of the organisation. Each type shows its age category (old birds or young birds) and how many races are calculated in the season. By default only the types with results are listed, switch to All to see the rest. Use the search box to find a type by its name.
Tick the races
All calculated races of the type are ticked straight away. Untick the races you do not need, or use Select all and None.
Add the competitions of the type
The right column lists the competitions that use this type of results, for example the ace pigeon or the point championship of the organisation. Tick the ones you want to print below the races.
A type without any calculated race in the season is greyed out and cannot be chosen. Calculate the results of the race first.
Printing season competitions
This view lists every competition of the season of your organisation and of the organisations above it, for example the region and the national federation. Official competitions such as the national championships and the ace pigeon categories are here too, even though they do not belong to any type of results.
The competitions are grouped by organisation. Every group can be folded with the arrow and has its own Select all and None, so you can pick all competitions of the federation with one click.
The search box and the buttons above the list narrow it down:
- Kind of competition - official competitions, custom competitions of the organisation, or success rate lists.
- Pigeons or fanciers - competitions that rank pigeons (ace pigeon, standard) or fanciers (championships).
Under every competition you can see its kind, how many records it has and when it was last calculated. Competitions that are not calculated yet are greyed out and cannot be ticked.
Competitions with hidden data
Some competitions have their results hidden from the public. Only administrators of the organisation that runs the competition and country administrators see them in the tool, marked with a crossed eye, and can print them. Think twice before you publish such a printout. Other users do not see these competitions at all.
Settings
The settings panel only shows what matters for your selection. When you print competitions only, you just see the limit of competition records. At the bottom you find the columns of the Word file and the advanced settings.
Content
- By fanciers - every fancier gets a line with the distance and the number of basketed and prized pigeons, followed by the list of the fancier's pigeons.
- By pigeons - one line per pigeon, in the order of the results list, with the fancier and club on every line.
When printing by fanciers you can choose the order of the fanciers: by the fastest pigeon, by the team result or alphabetically.
The limits cut the text short: the number of fanciers, the number of pigeons of every fancier, the number of pigeons in the list or the number of competition records. Leave a box empty to print everything.
Columns
Tick the columns you want for every pigeon: arrival time, speed, distance (list by pigeons only), points and coefficient. Show column headers adds a line with the column names above the pigeons of every fancier. Hide non-primary points prints a dash instead of points that were calculated for a pigeon but do not count for the main competition of the type, the same points the results page shows as not valid.
Additional types of results
When printing by fanciers you can add the results of up to two other types of results of the same race next to the main one, for example the regional list next to the club list. Every pigeon then shows its order, coefficient and points in all selected types.
Fanciers and pigeons that scored only in an additional type are listed too. Such a fancier is marked with a dash instead of the order.
The choice lists groups of types, such as all regional types. A group that contains the main type itself is skipped, so the same column never appears twice.
Leave both boxes on None when you do not need additional types, otherwise the extra columns make the text wider.
Columns in Word
The last setting chooses how the fanciers are laid out in the Word file: in two columns whenever they fit (Automatically), always in one column, or always in two columns. It only changes the Word file, the text preview stays the same.
Advanced settings
At the bottom of the settings, Advanced settings unfolds a list of details the text can contain in addition. All of them are off by default, so the text stays as short as before until you tick something.
- Race header - the race number, the organiser and who calculated the results, the GPS position of the liberation site, the number of prizes, the average distance, the race duration, the first and the last pigeon and the review of the clubs. The title can also start with the kind of results, for example Custom results - type - race (date).
- Fanciers - the club, the overall standing after the race, the clock deviation, the champions (pigeons of the nominated series that won a prize), the total score after the race, and the race score under the pigeons of every fancier.
- Pigeons - hide the nomination, put the prize in the first column, mark pigeons outside the nominated series with an X, and show the numbers like the results page does: a decimal comma, points without the unit and, when the race is ranked by the adjusted arrival, that time instead of the speed.
- Word - page numbers at the bottom of every page of the Word file.
Two buttons set many options at once. Standard turns every advanced setting off. Yearbook turns them all on and chooses the columns of a printed yearbook: by fanciers, with arrival, speed and points. You can change single options afterwards.
Champions and the X for pigeons outside the series are only printed in federations whose results page shows champions.
Preview, copy and download
The preview on the right updates on its own about half a second after every change. While it is updating the old text is shown faded.
- Copy to clipboard - puts the text into the clipboard. Paste it into Word, Pages or an e-mail: the text keeps a typewriter font, so the columns stay lined up. The font size is chosen so the widest line fits the width of a portrait A4 page.
- Download text file - saves the text as a file named after the organisation and the season. Open it in any text editor or send it to the printer.
- Download for Word - saves a Word file named after the organisation and the season. Every race and competition starts on a new page with a bold heading. When the lines of the fanciers fit half of the page, the fanciers are printed in two columns like in a yearbook; wider lists stay in one column and very wide ones turn the page to landscape. The file uses the Arial Narrow font, which comes with Microsoft Office.
Pasting into Word
- When Word offers paste options, do not choose Keep text only, otherwise the typewriter font is lost and the columns fall apart.
- A very wide text, for example with two additional types and all columns, gets a small font. Turn the page to landscape in Word or leave out some columns, or use Download for Word, which lays out the pages by itself.
Printing a yearbook
A yearbook collects the results of the season with every detail, in two columns on A4 pages. The tool prepares it in a few clicks.
Choose the races
In Race results choose the type of results; all its calculated races are ticked.
Choose Yearbook
Unfold Advanced settings and click Yearbook. The header of every race gets the organiser, the prizes, the first and the last pigeon and the clubs, every fancier gets the club, the standing, the champions and the scores.
Download for Word
Check the preview and click Download for Word. Every race starts on a new page, the fanciers are printed in two columns and the pages are numbered.
The details you do not need can be unticked after choosing Yearbook, the preview shows the change right away.
Club success rate
The club success rate sums up the whole season of the organisation for every club: how many pigeons and fanciers took part in the races and how many of them were successful. Organisations use it as the base for charging the clubs for basketing.
All races of the organisation in the season are counted, old and young birds together, including the races joined to them. Nothing has to be selected, the text is ready as soon as you open the view.
The columns of the table:
- Basketed pigeons - pigeons basketed by the fanciers of the club, every race counted again.
- Prizes - basketed pigeons with a prize in the race. A prize in any type of results counts, a pigeon with prizes in several types counts once.
- Fanciers - fanciers of the club who basketed pigeons, counted again in every race. A fancier basketing in 10 races counts 10 times.
- Successful racers - fanciers with at least one prize in the race, counted again in every race.
- % of birds with prizes - prizes divided by basketed pigeons. The clubs are ordered by it from the most successful one, the last row sums the whole organisation.
A fancier belongs to the primary club of the season. Fanciers without a club for the season are summed in a row marked with a dash.
To group the clubs, for example by the zones of the organisation, tick the types of results made of selected clubs under Group clubs by types of results. Every club gets the name of the first ticked type that includes it, in an extra column.
The same explanation of the columns is shown next to the preview, so you do not have to come back to this page.
What the text contains
- Every race starts with a header: race name and date, type of results, number of fanciers and pigeons, distance range, liberation time, weather, the series and the point system.
- Every fancier line shows the order of the fancier, the name, the distance and the pigeons basketed, prized and the success rate.
- Every competition starts with its name and lists its records with the order, fancier, club, ring number and the result of the competition.
Every column is only as wide as its longest value, so the text stays as narrow as possible.
The header and every fancier can show more details, see Advanced settings
